There’s no doubt that we’re integrating with devices at a staggering rate, and it follows that icon design will become both more interesting as well as increasingly important as the need to quickly transfer meaningful graphical forms increases.

Traditional text can be amplified or completely done away with in favor of these charming little guys, allowing for more spatial legibility, negative space and general graphic appeal.

One of my favorite things about icon design is that you can express yourself by personalizing your devices and online presence (my desktop is inhabited with catfaces) – almost everyone has one or the other.
