Oubly interview Bracket

It’s Bracket! Interview with the Beautifully Bold Blogger

I got super lucky to score an interview with the beautifully bold blogger, Bracket. ARE YOU READY? Are you ready to meet one of the coolest bloggers/photographers I’ve ever found (and I go through a great deal of them cats)? Welp, here you go then: introducing the infamous 333Bracket (Inbar). She’s a beast photographer and blogger from England that can cook, raise cats and hamsters as well as write in a charmingly snarky fashion. Ugh, I’m now somehow simultaneously green with jealousy and bored with myself – c’este la vie – let’s move on, here’s Inbar:

WHERE’S YOUR FAMILY FROM? HOW’S THE WEATHER IN YOUR PART OF TOWN? WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE TYPE OF WEATHER?

My family is from sunny Israel, where I was born and raised in a small seaside town! Spring is on it’s way to the UK, where I currently reside, which means it’s all a bit too sunny for a gloomy place like London, but you won’t hear me complain – I am at my best when the sun is out and it’s all warm and fuzzy outside.

“SUNSHINE IS MY FUEL”

(especially creativity wise!) so when it gets all cold I turn into a zombie – and that’s no fun.

YOUR RARE GENETIC SYNDROME, “VIEWFINDER” – CAN YOU TELL ME ABOUT IT?

My dear mother developed this syndrome in her teens, she used to hang around with a camera glued to her face and take pictures constantly! When I was born, it was only a matter of time before the doctors discovered that I carry the gene to this wonderful syndrome as well. Fast forward 15 years and before I knew it there was a camera glued to my face as well! Ever since than I can’t/won’t stop documenting my life in pictures, it’s kinda weird but you get used to living with it after a while,

“IT’S JUST A PART OF WHO I AM.”

HOW HAS LIFE BEEN DEALING WITH THIS SYNDROME?

It has it’s ups and downs, some days it’s a bliss and some days it feels more like a curse, but it’s a need for documentation that I cannot control…

“THERE IS A CAMERA ON OR NEAR ME EVERY MOMENT.”

YOU HAVE A RATHER UNIQUE STYLE OF WRITING, HOW DID THAT HAPPEN?

I’m not sure unique is the right word, maybe childish is more suitable. To be honest,

“I WRITE IN THE SAME MANNER I SPEAK”

which is often slightly sarcastic and quirky… I haven’t really “developed” this particular style of writing, the way I am IRL just comes through when I write I guess. I’m better with photos anyway – words are stupid.

RUMOR HAS IT YOU LOVE MUSIC, WHO ARE YOU LISTENING TO THESE DAYS?

“LOVE IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT”

I eat/breath/sleep music… it’s a 24/7 kinda’ passion. I’m currently way into the brilliant new Manchester Orchestra album COPE, the new La Dispute album Rooms of The House is also spinning on repeat, which makes me pretty moody, but that’s what La Dispute is put on earth for.

HOW DID YOU GET IN THE BLOGGING WORLD?

I first started writing a blog back in 2003 when I joined Suicidegirls.com, a thing that went on for like a decade or so, but initially that was my first introduction to blogging (alongside photographing exposed body parts, oh joy). I’ve been keeping blogs on all sorts of websites ever since but quit them all together in 2012, to write exclusively on my website.

HOW THE HECK DO YOU FIND ALL THOSE AMAZING PEOPLE AND PLACES TO SHOOT?

One of my biggest passions in life is traveling and seeing/meeting new places/people, I guess that helps a lot. Being stuck in one place makes for a very boring photographer imo,

“THE MORE I SEE OF THE WORLD, THE MORE INTERESTING MY PHOTOGRAPHY BECOMES”

VINTAGE CAMERAS, WHAT’S UP WITH THAT?

I developed a serious hoarding problem along the years, I first started collecting Vintage SLR cameras around 2006 and my collection count almost 100 cameras nowadays. They take a lot of space and funding but

“I’M JUST WAY INTO THE HISTORY”

behind them and of course, the unique outcome that every camera produce.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE CAMERA?

The Canon AE1 is my absolute favorite, I even got her tattooed on my arm recently…

“THAT’S TRUE LOVE.”

YOUR RECIPES, HOW DO YOU MANAGE ALL OF THIS CREATIVE ACTIVITY? HOW DID YOU GET INTO COOKING?

After years of being a very picky eater and having a strong dislike for eating outside, I’ve developed some serious cooking (especially baking) skills that wouldn’t shame Martha f’ing Stewart. I’m a very creative person and that applies to my kitchen techniques as well, I love spending time in the kitchen and coming up with ideas for recipes and then spend even more time perfecting them.

WILL YOU SHARE SOME WITH OUBLY IN THE FUTURE?

Yes, of course!

HAVE YOU CONSIDERED WRITING MORE AWESOME TUTORIAL ARTICLES?

Lately I’ve been getting a lot of requests to make a How-to-Crochet tutorial (I’m like a granny-ninja with hooks and needles when it comes down to knitting/crochet) so I guess that is up on my to do list!

WILL YOU SHARE WITH OUBLY?

Why yes I will… how about a Crochet tutorial? 😉

(You saw it here, dear readers – be sure to check back often to catch Inbar’s recipes and tutorials!)

HAVE ANY ARTISTS INFLUENCED YOUR WORK?

There’s no particular artist that directly influences my work. I appreciate and love browsing through other artists creations but the things I’m most influenced by are every day scenarios and sights, be it a song that is playing in my headphones or a colorful wall of graffiti I just passed by on the street

DO YOU HAVE ANY UPCOMING PROJECTS?

I hate the word “project”. it makes things sound so defined, a thing that can harm my creative process more than anything. I’m into creating spontaneously, no dead lines, no projects or anything that resemble a structure.

UNFORTUNATELY, YOU’RE MARRIED – YOUR HUSBAND SEEMS PRETTY RAD!

“HEHEHE! I’M HAPPILY MARRIED TO MY PARTNER OF 13 YEARS”

he’s a math head (as opposed to meth head, thank goodness!) and works for the European Space Agency, which is like NASA but without the annoying American accent. His work involves coding all kinds of weird things for spaceships – it doesn’t get any cooler than that!

IS THERE ANYTHING YOU’D LIKE TO ADD?

Yes, I would like to add kittens.

“YOU SHOULD ALWAYS ADD KITTENS. TO EVERYTHING. FOREVER.”
